May Cortazzi’s inspiration on creating an amazing outfit for Quest

Oh Quest. Such hedonistic messy fun. A couple of lazy days basking in the glorious sunshine, swimming in the river at sunset, dancing under the stars in the rain and watching the glittery reflection of sunrise over the lake surrounded by trees. Thinking how the weekend escape from the city was such a great idea.

Last year I spent days preparing my costume, rummaging through the old quarter for unusual accessories. I raided Chợ Hôm for the shiniest, most colourful fabric I could find. I took the whole pile to the tailor in a huge mess, she laughed at my ridiculousness. Then freaked out at the amount of needles she would break to get through the sequins.

Yes, you could go to Quest in jeans and a vest, but that would be a shame. You would miss the rare opportunity to be a part of the art, parading around in all the magical, hazy madness.

And just tipping a bag of glitter over your head doesn’t quite cut it either, tiny bits of plastic all over the countryside. Glitter is great, an iridescent explosion of amazingness. But make sure it’s applied properly with Vaseline and brushes to create glitter bomb effects, and work with marvelous metallic fibers and sparkly sequins, to make a glittering statement.

The theme this year is cosmic animals. Here are some ways I think this could be interpreted beyond the animal hoods and onesies.
