A Method of Living Forever – The Time of the Cocoon Series
Fine art photographer Hiromi Kakimoto uses the medium to create dreamy, otherworldly stories. Her images are inspired by childhood, particularly that of young girls – of myth, of the subconscious.
These are photos from two series, ‘Little World’ and ‘The Time of the Cocoon’. ‘Little World’ features objects – chairs, balloons, little girls dresses, paper planes and real – in an evocative portrayal of childhood. The more recent series, ‘The Time of the Cocoon’ inspired by a dream about ‘po-lone girls’, young pre-pubescent girls given the role of shamen to communicate between two worlds shows young girls in nature settings.
