Beautiful fabrics, intricate embroidery and beading and a feast for the eyes of those who love details. These historic Áo Dàis are stunning garments that awe across the ages and evoke images of lavishly clad Vietnamese upper classes and royalties many a decade ago.
The Áo Dàis are on display at the Goethe Institute until 31 January 2015 as part of the ‘Das prachtvolle Gelb läuft über blasse Blätter‘ exhibition. They belong to the private collection of philosophy lecturer and literary translator Thái Kim Lang and are exhibited alongside a multimedia space installation by German artist Veronika Witte.
