Bending trends for street loungewear
Words by Sadie Christie
We’ve previously voiced our approval for the head-to-toe patterned look. Now we’re joining ranks with the PJ street massive. Well, when you see enough matching pajama sets roaming the Hanoi streets, you’re likely to have an opinion, whether it’s to be put off, inspired, or a curious combination of the two. The lounge wear/pajama look in Vietnam isn’t new, nor does it seem to be going anywhere. And while we love making it easier to get dressed in the morning, it doesn’t mean you have to look like you got out of bed and headed straight for the door. Then again, it doesn’t mean you have to throw out the whole concept either, because let’s be honest, they are so damn comfortable. & Of Other Things traded in cosy for comfortable couture, separating the silk pieces and adding a heaped spoonful of grunge. Wearing shiny silk can be over the top and difficult to pull off, but the solid colors and minimal patterned design on these pajamas is striking when contrasted with other pieces. While still quite traditional looking in full boudoir form, these pajamas opt for a more structured jacket, and airy, sleek slacks, making them easy to pair with ripped jeans, crop tops and chunky jewelry. Lo and behold, bold, fashion-forward trend tweaking, for day, night, or the morning after.
