The Sounds of Hanoi Sound Stuff 2015

By andofotherthings · On 7 Apr, 2015

Trí Minh shares what to expect from the line up of electronic musicians providing the beats and loops at this year’s Hanoi Sound Stuff.

Day 1: Experimental Stuff

SOUND AWAKENER (Vietnam)

Nhung is a very young lady, whose music I stumbled upon when she ‘liked’ one of my tracks. I was incredibly surprised with the complexity and depth of the music she produces. Presenting her at Hanoi Sound Stuff 2015 is a way for me to say I hope and wish her journey will continue and develop further.

This is one of those tracks that makes me so relaxed while I’m enjoying what I call ‘the noise of Hanoi’.

VÕ VÂN ÁNH (Vietnam)

There is no need to introduce her to the global market but in Vietnam, where she grew up, her incredible voice and ability to play a variety of instruments are still relatively unknown. She is a major name in the US and Hanoians would do well to come and see her give this intimate concert and witness her share their love of music.

●●

GAUTE GRANLI (Norway)

As is tradition at Hanoi Sound Stuff, we present some very challenging music from abroad and this is what I call ‘a bowl of noise for you to eat that will have surprise written all over your face’.

●●

A NIGHT OF CLUTTER/BRETT ZWEIMAN & OTHERS (USA/others)

Brett Zweiman has been behind a lot of creativeness here in Hanoi recently. His regular NIGHT OF CLUTTER is hard to define — it is like a boat floating on the water without a rudder or paddle, taking you wherever the waves and wind takes it. The only way to see where it ends up going is to come to the concert and find out.

DAY 2: Berlin Club Night

CHÍ THANH and CHOPSTICK (Germany)

Brothers whose musical journey will show you the diversity of electronic music in Berlin’s infamous club scene today. One of the reasons I have put them on the line up, is because there are still not a lot of people with Vietnamese origins who have grown up in Europe who get into the creative industry. But these two are a good example of what the next Vietnamese generation in Germany and the rest of the EU are capable of.These tracks will give you an idea of the sounds and beats these amazing artists will bring to Hanoi Sound Stuff 2015’s most stunning and brand new location.

●●

DAY 3: DJ Night

THYLACINE (France)

Headlining Hanoi Sound Stuff is one of my favourite French artists. Over the years we have been introducing upcoming artists — some of which have hit it big globally shortly after performing at Hanoi Sound Stuff — and THYLACINE is one of them, which makes it all the more exciting that he has agreed to come back.

Here is some trance music from him that should get you in the mood for his upcoming set

●●

SOUNDS FROM Hanoi/TECHNO TRí MINH & DEE.F (Vietnam)

I myself will be performing with DEE.F as part of the newest electronic duo in Hanoi’s electronic music scene. Here is a little preview of what we have in store for:

●●

DANIEL MARIUMA & MOTI SAADIA (Israel)

Electronic music from Israel is pretty much unknown to Vietnamese people and we are about to change that with these guys. The duo will have the honour of closing the beautiful Hanoi Sound Stuff 2015.
