Filmmaker Vincent Moon travels the world, armed with a Panasonic P2 171 camera in a quest to find and document cultural diversity expressed in music. He is, as he says, “obsessed with music” and has a collection of over 700 short films on the subject matter that prove just that. Vincent does not plan, he just goes with the flow and starts rolling the camera when he stumbles upon sounds worth capturing. In Vietnam he found himself at a Lên đồng ritual in the outskirts of Hanoi. “It was a cinematic experience. The sound was just majestic. One of the best things I have ever heard. I was just blown away”.
This 17-minute glimpse into a unique Vietnamese ritual that is the product of Vincent’s time in Hanoi is being exclusively premiered on & Of Other Things. It is Vincent’s “personal interpretation of what is really the most sincere expression of Vietnam.”
